Weekly Letter from the Principal 4-30-21

SLE – Compassion by sharing our time, talents, and treasure: No one has ever become poor by giving. - Anne Frank

Dear Parents,

We have almost made it to May, which is the Month of Mary.  We will be honoring our Blessed Mother as the Queen of Heaven and Earth next Friday, May 7th.  Our 8th grade students will be leading our student body in May Crowning, with a Rosary, Crowning of Mary, and flowers presented to Our Blessed Mother.  Details will be coming home about flowers next week.

I want to congratulate our 2nd grade students on their First Holy Communion this past weekend!  It is such a beautiful experience and huge step in the faith journey for our kids.  I am so proud of them!  Congratulations to our second graders and their families!

Our spring MAP testing is beginning next week, for grades 2-8.  The information we collect from MAP tests will help us, as we evaluate our strengths and areas for improvement, as a school and teaching staff.  Please remind your students to do their personal best on each of their tests.  It is important that we get accurate information to evaluate growth.  Students should be getting lots of rest, good nutritious meals, and encouragement as we test through next week.  Our first day of testing will be Tuesday, May 4th.

Thank you all for supporting the Donation Free Dress yesterday.  We were able to donate $483 to the Faces of Hope Foundation!  We even had students in regular uniform dress, bring donations yesterday!  They were so grateful to our school and families for supporting their victim center, here in Boise.  We didn’t even realize it, but one of our parents is actually on their Board of Directors.  We are so happy to support their work.

I just want to remind families to let the office know if your students are staying home.  Certainly, if it is due to Covid related symptoms, but anytime they are going to be at school, we need to hear from home.  If there are Covid symptoms, or a positive case at home, please contact the school office, and we will discuss the situation and the timeline for returning to school.  Thank you!

I am excited to announce that we will be completing phase 2 of our roof project this summer!  With our parish’s help, we are moving forward to finish this project on our main building.  Work will begin as soon as we wrap up our year with students, and will be completed by September 1st.  This is a huge undertaking, and we are extremely grateful for the support of our families, parishioners, church!  I will share more details as we get closer to the project starting.

I pray that you all are enjoying this beautiful spring weather, finally!  Have a blessed weekend!

In Christ,

Brock Carpenter
