Weekly Letter from the Principal 12/4/20

Dear Parents,

Happy Advent!  I pray that this first week of Advent is going well for everyone.  I hope you are taking opportunities to visit with your family, and are finding personal time to reflect on Christmas, and the coming of our Lord.  May God bless this time in each of your homes!

Each year, my family participates in the tradition of praying the St. Andrew Christmas Novena together.  If you have not heard of it, it is a beautiful and meditative Novena, which starts on the Feast Day of St. Andrew (November 30th) and is recited 15 times, each day, until Christmas.  There is a link to the novena HERE.  If you would like to join in praying this Novena with your family, I would encourage you to start today!

Today our 8th grade students are learning about leadership, charisms, and how they can share their gifts to bring light to our world.  They will gather this afternoon, to discern their own gifts and pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Please pray for this special group of students, that they will hear and answer God’s call in their lives.

I want to thank all of the parents for your support of the decision to give staff the day off next Friday.  I am so thankful for all of your emails and the words of encouragement!  Our school is so blessed to have the families we do.  I apologize for any inconvenience this day may cause, but please know that our teachers are very grateful to have this time to rest up and catch up.

As the weather has turned colder, please make sure your students are dressed appropriately for recess and cooler classrooms.  During these winter months, through February, girls may wear their navy blue pants on Mass days.  They can still wear their plaid skirts and jumpers if they would like to, but they are not required to do so.  Speaking of Mass Dress, please check to see that your students are wearing their Mass dress on Friday’s.  We have had several 5th-8th grade boys not wearing their ties on Friday’s.  If a new tie is needed, they can be purchased through Educational Outfitters.  Thank you!

Our staff is enjoying the peace of mind that came with the donation of the Medify Air purifiers to the school.  We have them in each of our classrooms, and most of the offices.  Thank you to our generous donor!

Please remind your students that this quarter is ending on December 18th.  All assignments, AR goals, Khan goals, etc. are due by the 18th.  If you or your student has any questions on grades or assignments, now is the time for them to check in with their teachers.

To all of our dads, the annual Catholic Men’s Conference is coming up at the end of January.  For more information, and to register, please visit https://www.idahocatholicmen.org/.  This is an incredible opportunity for dads, husbands, grandfathers, and young men to grow in their faith and take a step towards being the men God created us to be.  Please check out the website for information on the great speakers at this year’s conference.

I pray that this Advent Season is bringing you closer in your preparation for the coming of our Savior.  May His peace and joy be with you!

In Christ,

Brock Carpenter
