October SLE – Appreciation for self, others, and the world: Let us find it in our hearts, to appreciate all – each person, each soul we contact is a gift from God.
We have had such a fun Jog-R-Walk week! The weather was perfect for the students to run, and they were all so excited to be out there. I was very impressed with their effort and enthusiasm! This year’s event was obviously different in some ways, but we had a lot of fun, and the kids were super flexible with the changes. The numbers are starting to come in, and we are well on the way to reaching our goal! It’s looking like staff and I might need to get our costumes figured out!
This morning we had our second school Mass of the year, and it has been amazing. I am so grateful that our students have the opportunity to participate in the Mass again. This morning our first and second grade students went to Mass in the church, and the rest of our students joined Mass online, in their classrooms. Deacon Mac Chester brought Communion over for our students at the school as well. We are incredibly blessed!
Just a reminder that our Friday School Mass is only for students. Normally, we love to have parents & grandparents join us for Mass, but this year is different. Unfortunately, we need to take these measures to keep our environment as safe as possible. Thank you for understanding!
Believe it or not, today is the end of the 1st quarter of school! At times it has seemed to fly by, while at others, it feels like the weeks just won’t end. I am extremely proud of and grateful for this community. I believe we have the most amazing families & staff in the world. The adaptability, commitment, and fortitude shown over the last several months has just been incredible. I am so grateful for each of you and the efforts you have made to be here. Your support of our students and staff is humbling. Thank you for all you do each and every day! I pray for continued success for our school and students.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be happening next Thursday and Friday. You should have gotten an informational email from the school office today. If you schedule a Zoom conference, I want to share a few reminders:
- Conferences are 15 minutes long.
- The 15 minutes will start with the scheduled time of the conference. We only have so much time to get parents into conferences, and the next family will be waiting to join via zoom.
- Please be respectful of this time constraint. If you need more time to discuss your child’s classes or grades, please schedule a follow up meeting.
- Report cards and MAP test results will be sent home next Wednesday. This will give you an opportunity to see them before conferences.
We have open spots on our School Advisory Board for this year. Our Board is an integral part of our school, as they provide invaluable feedback and advice to Fr. Rob Cook and me. The Board Members serve as our parent voice in many of the decisions that are made regarding school operations. If you would be interested in learning more about these positions, how our Board operates, or serving our school in this capacity, please let me know.
Finally, as I mentioned the possibility last week, Central District Health did update Ada County schools to Category III/Red. Our current Operating Plan takes into account all of the recommendations that CDH has made for schools operating in this situation. Therefore, we do not need to make a lot of changes to what we are doing. We are however offering families the option to keep their students home and participate in distance learning. If you feel that this is the best option for your student(s), please contact the front office to let us know. We will need this information by Monday, so that teachers can make arrangements and communicate plans to these families. Thank you!
I pray that you all have a fun and safe weekend!
