October SLE – Appreciation for self, others, and the world: Creation is not a property, which we can rule over at will; or, even less, is the property of only a few: Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude. Pope Francis
October is the month of the Rosary! Please remember to share this beautiful prayer and tradition with your family. Finding time to pray the rosary, or at least part of it, with your family will open the door to blessings for all of you.
Fall weather is showing up! It has been quite a bit cooler in the mornings, and it looks like days are going to get cooler as well. We will continue to have our classroom windows open to help with ventilation and airflow in the rooms. Please make sure your students are dressed appropriately for the temps outside and in the classrooms. Thank you!
Jog-R-Walk is next week! We are getting ready for two super fun days of running and raising money for our amazing school. I hope everyone is excited to show how much they love Sacred Heart and have been out getting pledges! I’m praying for another successful year, and I hope we get to see some Halloween costumes as a result!!
I have met with Central District Health officials and school administrators from around our area this week. CDH is anticipating moving Ada County schools into Category 3 next week. The earliest I will have that information would be Monday, possibly Tuesday. If we end up in Category 3/Red, we will communicate to families as soon as we know. We would also offer families the option to keep their students at home for distance learning, while we remain in Category 3. We would be implementing the same hybrid learning that we started the year with, for students who were at home. Teachers would zoom certain classes live to their homebound students, and provide assignments through Seesaw and Google Classroom.
Central District Health has issued guidelines for in-person learning, and are encouraging schools to stay open if they can. The guidelines include:
- Students and staff wearing face coverings throughout the school day
- Smaller class or cohort groupings
- Physical distancing of 6 feet or more
These guidelines are all part of our normal operating plan, at this time. We would not be implementing large-scale changes to anything that we are currently doing. If Ada County schools are moved to Category 3 next week, we will not change our daily operations, other than the option for students to learn at home, if families make that choice.
As of today, we have not had any positive Covid cases at Sacred Heart! I want to thank our families and students for being responsible and following the expectations and procedures we have in place. Our students and staff have done a great job, and I am so proud of them for that!
At this time, we are planning on moving forward with Jog-R-Walk next week. We have planned for classes and cohort groups to run separate from other groups, and students will be reminded to run with distance between them and their peers. If anything changes with this plan, we will share that information as soon as possible.
We are continuing to apply for grants to help us make improvements to our school, especially in the areas of health and safety. Please include this endeavor in your prayers. There are some key improvements that we would love the opportunity to pursue.
Have a great weekend!
