Sacred Heart

September SLE – Spiritual Growth in the Catholic Faith: We are called to be witnesses and messengers of God's mercy, to offer the world light where there is darkness, hope where despair reigns, salvation where sin abounds. Pope Francis

Dear Parents,

Our students have been taking their MAP tests the past two weeks, and I am excited to say that this testing session has come to an end… almost.  We just have a couple of students who were absent that need to finish.   Considering our circumstances, I feel like our tests went extremely well this fall!  Great job Sacred Heart students!

Jog-R-Walk is right around the corner!  This is an important fundraiser for our school, and I am super excited for this year’s event.  It is going to look a little different this year, but we are going to make it happen in a fun and safe format.  I will be visiting with students this afternoon, and details will be in today’s family envelopes.  Please pray that this is a successful event for our school and community!

Today marks the end of our fifth week of class for Sacred Heart students.  While this fall has brought a lot of change for our school, I am so impressed by the dedication and adaptability of our students.  They are working so hard, following all of our procedures, and come to school with a smile on their faces.  It is such a blessing to be here, with students, families, and staff who are incredibly motivated and committed to Catholic Education.  I am grateful for each of you and the sacrifices you make to be here.  Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your children’s spiritual and academic growth and formation!

If you have not checked your students’ grades yet, now is a good time to start.  Student grades are available to be viewed by following the “Plus Portals” link on our school website.  Go to “Menu” then “Current Families” and “Plus Portals.”  Each family should have login information for the Plus Portals site.  If you need help, please contact the school office.

Fr. Rob is recovering from sickness, and is back in the office part-time.  I had an opportunity to meet with him yesterday and discuss school business.  It was great to see him, and he is looking really good.  He is not quite ready to begin School Masses yet.  We have set a tentative date for our first Mass, on October 9th.  We will share more information on Mass as we get closer to that date.  We are all very anxious to add Mass & the Eucharist back into our weekly practice!

Update on our school roof - The library portion of our project is nearing completion!  The roofing crew has been working hard to stay on their timeline.  The library should be done next week, and they will move on to the third and final phase of our current project.  As soon as the library portion is complete, they will begin work on the main hall and office area roof.  We look to be finished by mid-October.

TVCS girls’ basketball and wrestling starts in October.  Details can be found on the TVCS Website.

Please remember that we have a short week next week.  School staff will be attending a virtual retreat and workshops on Friday and Saturday.  There is no school next Friday.

I pray that you all have a blessed weekend with your families!

In Christ,

Brock Carpenter
