Hallissey Champs!

Lent – Lent is the perfect time to allow ourselves to contemplate the pain of those who suffer without anyone to help them.  It is the time to turn compassion into concrete acts of solidarity and care.  Pope Francis

Dear Parents,

Believe it or not, February is over and we are already into Lent, March, and the spring months!  Last week was the Hallissey Tournament and the beginning of Lent, and it seems like we move from one big event and busy week to another.  Isn’t it amazing though, to have so many fun and important activities to share with our children and community?  I am so grateful for the opportunity to have my own children at Sacred Heart.  Their experiences here are shaping the men they will one day be, and I could not ask for more supportive and positive influences in their lives.  Our Sacred Heart staff and families are one of a kind.  Thank you for all you do to make our school the best!

We had another fantastic Hallissey weekend!  Both teams representing Sacred Heart this weekend played their hearts out!  It was so fun to watch these teams compete and represent our school!  These 7th and 8th graders wait a long time to play in our own tournament, and I was so proud of all of them!

The seventh grade coed team, which I was very fortunate to coach, had a great weekend winning two games, before exiting the tournament.  They played with great tenacity and sportsmanship in a very tough coed division.  I was so honored and proud to coach this team!

Our 8th grade coed team, coached by Mr. Brian Flowers, had an amazing tournament!  Our 8th graders went undefeated through the weekend, bringing home the Coed Division Championship!!  I was so impressed with the spirit and sportsmanship of our teams… As a principal, coach, and dad, I could not be more proud!

We also had the best fans in the whole tournament!  Our students, families, and staff came out in force and with great spirit… I was so impressed, and have heard from other schools, committee members, and officials, just how fun and impressive our fans were.  Thank you everyone!!

I want to thank all of our coaches and players for their hard work and play.  I love the way this tournament brings our Catholic community of Idaho together through sports.  It is an honor to host such a great event.  I want to thank the Hallissey Committee, and all of the families and volunteers who give their time to making it happen.  You are an awesome group!

We are doing our best to keep everyone informed of any new information, regarding the Coronavirus, that may change our school days, procedures, or plans.  Please know that I am working closely with our Superintendent of Schools, school nurses, and other principals to keep our students, families, and staff as safe as possible.  We do not want to create panic where it is not needed, as far as our communication with students & parents, but we also want to make sure all are aware of the situation as it progresses.  Please join us in praying for all those affected by this outbreak, and that our health care systems are able to help those in need, and quickly find a way to stop the spread of this virus.

Don’t forget, the end of the 3rd quarter is next Friday… we will have a NOON DISMISAL.

God bless you and have a wonderful weekend and Lent!  Don’t forget to Spring Forward this weekend.

In Christ,

Brock Carpenter
