Lord, let everything I do this day and in this season of Lent come from You, be inspired by you. I long to be closer to You. Help me to remember that nothing is important in my life unless it glorifies You in some way.
Happy Hallissey Week!
We have had a fun and colorful week of Hallissey dress up days. Our students have been very creative in their costumes, and it has been fun to see so many students involved and showing their spirit. The 7th and 8th grade teams are excited to get the tournament underway! We will have a pep rally this afternoon, at 2:00, to get them pumped up one more time before games tomorrow.
I hope that you can find time to come watch our teams play throughout the weekend. Our teams begin their tournament play in the Carly Center, at Bishop Kelly, tomorrow afternoon. Our 8th grade team plays at 4:30, followed by our 7th grade team at 5:30. Also, all of our parents are invited to attend the Hallissey Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary on Saturday evening at 7:00. This is a special weekend full of basketball, fun, and most importantly fellowship. Please pray for the safety and success of all the players. Go Crusaders!!
I want to thank our Home & School Association and parent volunteers for providing a delicious and fun pancake lunch for students on Fat Tuesday. Jane Peterson and her crew were awesome! I think this is the most exciting day of the year for our students. I am always amazed at the energy in the school on this day. Our students look forward to it so much! Thank you!
During Lent, we will also be leading our students through the process Fasting, Praying, and Almsgiving. As a school, we will be praying the Stations of the Cross on Friday’s. This will begin tomorrow, as we will gather in the gym, at 8:30 to pray the Stations. Please check the school calendar, if you would like to join us in praying and meditating on Christ’s Passion and Death on Friday’s during Lent.
We have also set up prayer partners for students to pray with and also to provide some accountability for their Lenten fasting and promises. We are sending home information and rice bowls from Catholic Relief Services. As a school we want to support their efforts to reach out to those in need. Please look in the family envelopes for more information. We will also be collecting food items for St. Vincent dePaul the first two weeks of March. More information will be coming home. And, of course, our 8th graders will be leading Living Stations of the Cross on April 3rd.
Have a blessed weekend! I’m sure I will see many of you at the Hallissey games and events this weekend.
In the Peace of Christ,
