December SLE – Respectful attitude toward others in all we do: Advent increases our hope, a hope which does not disappoint. The Lord never lets us down. Pope Francis
I hope that you all are finding joy and peace in this Advent and Christmas season. As we look around the world and our community, we are reminded that we have so much to be thankful for. I pray that God is blessing each of your families in a special way!
It was great to see so many parents, grandparents, and family members at our Christmas Concert on Tuesday evening! My hat is off to Mrs. Bailey for putting together such a fun and meaningful program with our students. It is so fun to see our kids perform and share their amazing gifts with our community! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
I hope to see you all at our Drama Club performances next week. The Drama Club Play will be held for families on Thursday evening, followed by a performance for students on Friday morning before we dismiss for Christmas break. Families are welcome to join us for either performance!
As we get closer to winter weather, I want to remind everyone about our procedures for possible school closures. Any announcements regarding a snow day, or a late start will be sent to families via a text message. We will also post any announcements to our website, Facebook, and Twitter. Also, tune in to KTVB Channel 7 for school closure. Before making any kind of decision on closing school, I communicate with the other Catholic school principals here in the Treasure Valley, including Mr. Caldwell, at Bishop Kelly. I try to get out and drive the roads early, in order to make a good decision. The most important consideration is the safety of our students and families. As parents, you know your commute better than I, and you always have the option to keep your children at home. We certainly understand when you make those decisions. We just ask that you would please contact the office, in the event that you would not bring your child to school.
Our girls’ 7th grade TVCS basketball team wrapped up their season last night. They completed an undefeated season as they won great game over Mtn. Home for the Intervalley League Championship!
Our 8th grade TVCS team also played last night, and they ended up in second place, losing a close game to Middleton. The 8th grade girls ended their season with a 14-1 record. Congratulations to all of our students and coaches!
Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and our 8th graders performed a short informative play to share the experience of St. Juan Diego and the miracles surrounding Our Lady. They did a great job!
Next week will be a busy week! We are wrapping up the second quarter of school, and have several activities during the week as well. Christmas parties and plays will keep us all hopping around the school. Please help your students get plenty of over the next few days. We will wrap up next week with Mass on Friday morning, followed by the school play, and a noon dismissal. Then we get to take a deep breath before coming back on January 7th!
Next Thursday is a Late Start (8:30) and Spirit Day. Students can wear their Crusader Gear to school.
Don’t forget about the Men’s Conference coming up on January 25th! This is such a great opportunity for all of us men to grow in faith and community. Dad’s, I hope to see you there!
I pray that you all are experiencing a blessed Advent. May Christ be with each of you!
In Christ the Teacher,
